Designing, Analyzing and Simulating the ATM (Automatic Teller Machine)

Project Title

Abstract:

This project aims at analyzing, designing and simulating the Automatic Teller Machine (ATM).

The idea of this project is an addition to what is written in the scientific books that talk about the programming engineering of the ATM. Most of the books talk about limited uses of the ATM namely about; inquiry, money withdrawal, depositing money, or money transfers.

And due to the development in technology and programming, the ATM became a mini-bank that serves the users (the bank customers) in managing their accounts and in executing operations related to the account taking into account that this service is available 24/7. These services include “Pay Service” which enables the customer to pay any bill for any company. It can be used to settle loan installments by debiting the customer’s account and crediting the beneficiary’s account automatically.

It allows the customers to pay any charges that are due to any government sector or ministry or any other operation that became a daily routine.

The idea of the project is a result of the fact that nobody has worked in such a project before though creating such applications is being taught by Dr. Fathi Ab-Buraei in the department programming engineering.

What is an ATM?

Automatic Teller Machine  (ATM) is a machine that enables the customers to accomplish their financial operations in the public places such as the trading centers, shopping malls or even on the streets without the need to go to the bank.

The body of this machine is composed of a plastic material with a magnetized strip in addition to the memory chips and the monitor and other components which work together using an operating system (in some countries ATMs use Windows OS). This machine is connected with the server using the telephone cables (usually more than 3 telephone cables are used at the same time). When this machine is operated, it looks like any computer. Then, it loads the bank application.
